Spotify Has Launched In U.S. !

image from www.google.com (UPDATE) Spotify launched at 8AM this morning - With the final deal signed with Warner Music Group on Wednesday, Spotify is reportedly set to finally launch launched in the U.S. this morning. CEO Daniel Ek flew into New York City on Sunday to personally oversee the the long promised debut here. "Looong Day today. Longer tomorrow" tweeted EK around midnight on Wednesday just a couple of hours after re-tweeting Britney Spears: "So excited Spotify is FINALLY coming to the US tomorrow! Getting my playlists ready now."

Much as it does in Europe, Spotify will offer a three tier plan: a free ad-supported version, an ad-free computer based version for $5 a month and a $10 a month premium service that adds mobile access, higher audio quality and other features.

Paid subscriptions will be available at launch. But Spotify’s free version will be available by invitation only, according to the New York Times. Invites will come from current users to those requested them on Twitter and on its Web site. As in Europe, a free user will be limited to 20 hours of listening a month for the first six months; then the limit drops to 10 hours. Free users also can't listen to a song more than five times monthly.

Connections with Facebook will be available at launch, but a deeper integration won't come until August when Facebook is reportedly planning the simulatanous launch of a number of music services.
