SoundCloud has released a public beta version of its HTML5 widget. The company calls it "more than just a music player" and built it to encourage interactivity with the sound itself and with listener comments. Features include:

• iPad/iPhone mobile support
• New waveform design encourages more interactivity with the sound
• Timed comments more usable on the widget
• Easier to view info about the sound (title, person)
• Easier sharing (Facebook Like, Google+, Twitter)

Soundcloud is promising rapid integration of new features for the HTML5 widget, Its all part of a greater play by the company to encourage sharing and transition SoundCloud away from a pure music player to an interactive tool. Britney Spears have been using the HTML5 widget to Wattpad (a place to discover and share stories).
