News Update: eMusic Adds EMI, Live Nation Stock Soar, Apple Patent Reveals Cloud Music Service

  • eMusic has finally made a deal with EMI to bring 15,000 albums that are 12 months or older to its subscription download service.  eMusic now has deals with all four majors.
  • Shares of Live Nation were up 10% over the last two days after CEO Michael Rapino said during a  J.P. Morgan Telecom Conference that the last month of ticket sales were up 7% year over year.
  • An Apple patent application analyzed by AppleInsider all but proves iTunes in the cloud. It appears the cloud-based music service will offer faster playback of net-stored content by syncing small song snippets via iTunes.  View the patent application:
