Musicians Call Fans And Remind Them To Vote

image from 1.bp.blogspot.com HeadCount, a non-profit organization that teams up with musicians and helps get fans registered to vote at concerts, has launched a new campaign this year. For the Midterm elections in November, if fans pledge to vote, they can choose to be reminded of their commitment by a number of musicians before election day. Members from groups such as My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, Phish, and The Disco Biscuits will contact fans and encourage them to go vote. Likely, these are going to be automated messages, however, it’s still a rather nice gesture to fans and pairing of political activism and music culture.

In related news, Jay-Z has signed onto the organization and they’ve created a PSA featuring him. This will play on CBS and Fuse, among others. Last year, Headcount registered over 100,000 voters and hopes to beat that record this year.
