Bandcamp Adds Facebook Pages plus Our Campaign For Bandcamp Transparency
Launched with so little fanfare that no one would have known about it unless the guys from Music Biz Podcast had stumbled upon it, Bandcamp has added Facebook Page integration. "The Bandcamp Facebook app puts all the functionality and content of your Bandcamp site into a tab within Facebook," says a note on the site.
"This page will walk you through its installation, cover some common questions, and help you troubleshoot any problems you may run into along the way." The new feature, which pulls content automatically is easy to use - setup took Brian Thompson of ThornyBleeder just 90 seconds, "It's also really customizable and I love that."
"They kept this quiet ! Saw the tip on @hypebot logged into my @bandcamp and there it was!" @MakeItInMusic tweeted this morning.
Step by step instructions on using Bandcamp's almost undiscovered new feature can be found here.
Join The Campaign For Bandcamp Transparency
II love Badcamp as do thousands of artists. If you are one of them, I urge you to join me in the unofficial tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek campaign launched by Michael Brandvold and Brian Thompson to shame Bandcamp into getting better at spreading the word about their own features. Email them at feedback@bandcamp.com. (BTW, it took me 5 minutes of searching the site to find contact info.)
Or if Bandcamp would just email or even just direct tweet me a link - not even an announcement, press release or blog post - I'll spread the word for them.
